Simon Littauer: You Have to Be Present

Interesting video on the work and creative philosophy of electronic artist Simon Littauer, navigating through his ideas of simplicity and complexity and the role of sound when gathering people and finding intimacy, both corporeal as well as spiritual.

He talks about the idea of simplicity in terms of not having to overthink sound processes, which also results on technical decisions such as his processes on time stretching and custom processing in modular-based systems. Simplicity for him is about intuition, about “feeling something without having to understand it”. That process contrast with the inherent complexity of modular systems, which he approaches in beautiful ways as a emitters of emotions.
