Field by Martin Messier, Sound Performance Based on Residual Electromagnetic Signals

FIELD is a new work by Canadian artist Martin Messier, previously known for his intricate audiovisual machines, unique installations and intense performances.

This new work is based on the idea of creating sounds out from residual electric signals, using electromagnetic transducer microphones to pick up electricity that serves as source for audiovisual movement, here approached also as performance, created live by Messier, who connects and disconnects patches between two panels, in which energy flows and gets not only into sonic currents, but also into visual rhythmic structures, resulting in a fascinating play between light and invisibility, in the intertwining of fields, energies and (non)material processes.
