An extract from a twenty-minute sonic river, composed for an installation at the Theatre Royal, Winchester, UK (2011). It was part of a cycle of soundscapes composed for an event in which artists, writers, dancers and musicians took over the entire Theatre space for one evening. Composed, with support form Hampshire Wildlife Trust, from fragments of water recordings taken over the period of a year in the Hampshire Wildlife Trust Winnall Moors Reserve, the river flowed through the theatre’s public address system, simultaneously describing and being described by the architecture of the building.

Boy In A Hot Tub

 Many Icelanders own a summer house. Almost all this summer houses have a outdoor hot tub spa.
In July 2011 I spent one week in workers union summer house. Of course there was a hot tub where my son spent many hours for fun. I put my Aquarian mics in the tub. Part of the result can be hear in this session.
Recorder: Korg MR1000 with SD552 preamp.

House Kitchen Sink

….My last sound in this post is a recording I made by putting one of my DPA 4060 miniature microphones down past the drain of a dry sink while the water was running a little further down the water pipes.  This captures a great hollow metallic reverb. Last year I worked on an episode of an animated series that took place in a sewer pipe beneath the city, and this recording would have been extremely helpful on that project.  I know it’ll get used in the future…
